I love the 24th of July holiday in Utah, commemorating the entry of the LDS Pioneers in the Salt Lake Valley. My great grandparents came across the plains and later settled in Manti. I’m grateful that they came to Utah, and when I lived in Philadelphia we also looked West and longed to return to Utah, specifically Provo.
The Pioneering Spirit of Utah didn’t end in 1847, it continues today. Provo is full of pioneers. We have become known as a city of start-ups. From the technology industry that has brought on Silicon Slopes, Qualtrics, Vivint, and so many others.
VidAngel was founded in Provo with six employees. We are the home of NuSkin, which has invested so much in our downtown.
While we reflect on the past and companies that have started here, I’m excited for what the future will bring. Our Pioneer Spirit of can-do attitude means that there is no problem we cannot solve together. As Mayor, we will build on our past for a bright future.
